Hold the phone flat and face the wall or doorway you want to measure. The mark at the top of the dial is the direction you are facing. Once the reading settles, tap Freeze, lower the phone and read the result. With no sensor, drag the dial with a finger or pick a direction by hand.
About the eight directions
In Vastu each zone of a house belongs to one of the five elements and to a presiding deity, which is why the kitchen, the bedroom, the shrine and the water source each have a direction that suits them. This compass shows the guidance for the direction you are facing; take a practitioner's advice before making a final decision.
